During the Corona Crisis the voluntary fire department of the city of Kolham made the choice to stay isolated in their fire-stations. To kill time and fight boredom during this isolation they started a project in their well equiped workshop. They took a good look at some soon to be retired workhorses and decided it would be possible to make one killer machine out of the available old equipment.
They took the intact cab shell of an IH S-series, a rather good preserved hood, engine and frame from an IH Paystar, the running gear of an old Dimaond Reo that went out of service ages ago and combined these into an impressive truck. An old Century 1040B wrecker body was found and received some overdue maintenance. At the moment they are finishing the bumper which wille be used for clearing traffic on the nearby highway A7 or Main Street in case of future emergencies.
Construction is almost finished and the firefighters are preparing the machine for the paint booth. A lightbar was found on an old fire truck and right now they are collecting as much stainless steel checkered plate as they can to give it the proper fire truck look.
Fortunately the firefighters have the luxury of having an in house plotter machine to cut the goldleaf lettering for this truck. Since climate chance is also noticeable in the city of Kolham the crew decided to finish the truck in a light color. Although both white and lime yellow are still options to choose from.
Well, here are some pictures of the building process so far:
Stay safe,
Rolf
