I've opened up the lower louvres...

...I've cut out the stock engine-lid and filled the rear window...

...and started making a new, barndoor-style, engine-lid.

I did that because I'm converting this bus into a 1950 model. Up to chassie number 20-05534 all VW buses had a big logo in the rear and no window (unless window was ordered as a special option).

Actually this bus is supposed to rensemble an old bus, originally sold in Sweden with chassie number 20-03194 , hence the 175 mm top louvres just below the driprail.

More pic's in progress. Here's how I make the final shape of the lic.plate recess. Also testfitting of the lid in the body.

My next build is also going to be a vw van, only it's revell's edition.
Anyway how did you make that awesome drawing, in photoshop or something, or did you just find in on the internet? I really would like to make it too.
I will follow the build!

Sleurhut i s right! I used busselecta to make the drawing. I've used it for my Kübel and my 1949/50 splitwindow Bug as well!

More update on this one.

All louvers have been rebuilt to resemble the early barndoor-style:


A new driprail was installed because of the improved roofline in the front. The early ones didn't have the "cap-style" roof:
