Heeft iemand toevallig nog tijdens de ESM in Nieuwegein die oude Martin bommenwerper (ik geloof een MB-2) gekocht die bij de stand van VAMI stond? Hij was 50 euro en zo te zien zonder decals. Ik vond 'm net iets te duur maar volgens mij was het wel een collectors item, de doos was in ieder geval nog helemaal gaf. Ik weet niet meer of het Glencoe was.

Ik had 'm bijna gekocht voor deze groepsbouw maar dan was ik wel in tijdsnood met andere projecten gekomen. Daarnaast vond ik 50 euri wel wat prijzig.

Dat ding is oorspronkelijk uitgebracht door ITC en tegelrijkertijd onder dezelfde naam verkocht onder het Engelse equivalent Kleeware. Iets later kwam ie ook onder UPC op de markt. Eind jaren '60 was ie er nog even onder de doos zoals de stand van Vami 'm had liggen.

Ik heb er zelf een tijdje een gehad onder de naam van Kleeware. Die dingen worden nog geregeld aangeboden op Ebay Engeland en daar worden ze bij lange na niet verkocht voor een bedrag voor rond de €50,-. De helft maximaal! Ik had de mijne een jaar of 3 geleden zelfs voor een paar pond. Als je bij Vami koopt kan je er zeker van zijn het absolute topbedrag voor zo'n kit te betalen. Mijn advies is dus: niet doen!

Als je 'm toch bouwen wil, neem dan zo'n jaren '90 heruitgave van Glencoe. Die hoeft echt niet veel te kosten. Overigens is ie niet schaal 1/72, maar 1/75!

Ik vond al dat de standhouder van VAMI er straffe prijzen op nahield. Ik heb alleen wat zitten neuzen in zijn aanbiedingsdozen. Wel een mooie 5 euri MIG-17 van KP gekocht. En dat was het dan.

Het was leuk geweest als die doos 10 a 20 euro was geweest. Helaas zagen de standhouders er niet heel erg onderhandelbaar uit.

Ik heb trouwens ook nog even met een VIMY in mijn handen gestaan. Was later helaas vergeten bij welke stand dat was...zoveel doosjes ook.

Die Vami mensen hadden in ieder geval ook een Vimy, in een hele oude Hasegawa doos. Hasegawa heeft een tijdlang FROG kits uitgebracht. Interessante doos trouwens, maar ik heb maar niet gevraagd wat is moest kosten. Ik was allang blij met mijn Handley Page 0/400 in de alleroudste Airfix doos.

Anyway I will thank all of you here in the group build. I got a lot of inspiration for my own projects! Especially I will thank Nico the Kitboy to make me look over a laid down project and encourage me to restart.

I know it sound like a tragedy but I'm not out of the world and I will look by to make some stupid comments, be sure

Ik weet uit recente ervaring dat pasgeboren baby's en Gotha bommenwerpers niet goed samen gaan. Mijn kindje is inmiddels al weer 13 maanden, dus alweer wat meer tijd. Geniet ervan!

- The PuW bomb is not pale blue. A great oportunity to color up the model

- Look at the attachement of the strut to the engine nacelle. Roden missed this point!

- Rigging attachement points at the interwingsstruts. Very intressting, there is a "cut out" at the front side of the strut and the rigging from all directions is collected in one point. Finally it is much easier to rig the model!

- Ribstructure is very visible even at a pale blue painted plane!


As a tech tip: Try to get these masking tapes.



Preshade with a dark color. Mask the ribstructure with such tapes and start normal paint. Remove the masking tape if you think it will work (I'm not airbrushing, so I can not tell how often you have to spray). I think it's the easiest way to get ribstructures on your model.

I doubt the translucency of the paint. In my experience paint is very opaque having almost no translucency. Furthermore the nacelle is quite darker than the underside of the wings, these being in the shadow are lighter than the aft of the nacelle in the sun!

My first gues would be that the wings are unpainted, just doped! Off-course I know next to nothing concerning German painting habits of most German planes to know if such a thing is possible at all!

Maybe a prototype? The numbers of officers around the plane could point in that direction...

Any other information? Where and when the picture was taken?
